McAllen ISD has been given an opportunity to partner with HEB as part of the HEB Read 3 Literacy Program.  The goal of Read 3 Literacy Workshop is to educate parents and caregivers about the need to read to their children a minimum of three times per week. Additionally, the goal is to provide parents with the tools and resources they need to prepare their early learners, including providing easy and affordable access to books. The workshop will introduce parents and caregivers to nutrition concepts and literacy ideas that they can foster in their homes.

El Distrito Escolar de McAllen ha tenido la oportunidad de asociarse con HEB y formar parte del Taller de Alfabetización Lee 3. El objetivo del Taller de Alfabetización Lee 3 es educar a los padres y/o tutores legales sobre la necesidad de leerles a sus hijos un mínimo de tres veces por semana. Además, el objetivo es proporcionarles a los padres las herramientas y los recursos que necesitan para preparar a sus estudiantes principiantes, incluyendo el fácil acceso a los libros. El taller presentará a los padres y/o tutores legales los conceptos de nutrición y las ideas de alfabetización que pueden fomentar en sus hogares.
